As research into Dr. Usui Reiki gave more results we came to know that the Reiki practiced in the West is different from Japanese Reiki. This has been possible through research by Arjava Petter, his wife Chetna Kobayashi and Mr. Doi who have made us much more aware of the original Reiki or as told and instructed by Dr. Usui and we thought that we should be associated with the original Reiki.
It was believed that Reiki has only one of practice and this was preached all over the world. But we have come to know various techniques of Reiki that were known in the West but were not traditional Japanese. It was also learnt that some of them were Western practices actually. Realizing all this, we later realized that that probably a combination of the two is a best approach. We thought of taking some from both the ways.
But with time research barrier on Reiki in Japan was broken and more and more research was carried out on Reiki. This revealed startling and significant results. We came to understand and realize that Reiki was introduced to the West by Dr. Takata and that she had her own style. Earlier it was believed that Dr. Takata followed Dr. Usui’s practice only. We also discovered that many of her techniques were reflections of Dr. Hayashi and herself.
This was because it was Dr. Takata who had introduced Reiki to the West but was not much known among those practicing the real Reiki and this led others to believe that this was the Western manifestation of Reiki.
