Islam

Islam is an Abrahamic, monotheist religion established by Mohammad. Its followers are called ‘Muslims’ or ‘Moslems’ and are primarily based in the Middle East, with Mecca in KSA as its holiest shrine. It is the world’s second largest religion and growing at a very high rate. Islam is based on the prophetic traditions of Mohammad, believed to the last prophet of God. Its holy scripture is Quran which prescribes the actions, duties and responsibilities of every Muslim on a daily basis.

Muslims believe that there is one God and think that the sole purpose of existence in the world is to worship Him. They think Quran to be the unaltered, final revelation and word of God. The religious practice includes worship and following Islam and it guides its followers on different topics like banking and the family.

Muslims are grouped under two categories known as ‘Shia’ and ‘Sunni’. They live in different parts of the world such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, China and North America.
