Chi Kung is a spiritual path in the Taoist tradition. It is based on meditation and breath control methods. This is also energy healing and reiki and chi kung are very similar to each other. It has been created by the twenty-eighth patriarch Bodhidharma adopted into the Japanese system. This is a Chinese system which spread to Japan as Zen meditation in later years.

The chi kung mediators are able to control and guide the life force energy and use it to create energy channels through aura. There are a number of uses of this energy such as in the traditional treating systems of acupuncture, acupressure and the Jara lines. Also includes in this are the chakras and the mini chakras through which the life energy flows. Those initiating into the chi kung have to follow a highly disciplined lives and follow strict regimens and routines. It requires many years of devotion and practice to rise to the higher levels. The students of this practice have to exercise control in diet and meditate regularly for long term. It is very well known that healing abilities under chi kung take many years to develop. It requires free flow of energy through the body which takes painstaking efforts and is very long term. Compared to Reiki, this method is time taking. In Reiki, it comes almost instantly. Although it requires practice as well, it does not require a much rigorous lifestyle as in chi kung. In Reiki, attunement is the process through which one attains life force energy but it can be a practice of a few weeks also. Therefore, if we go deep into both the methods, we will find significant differences between the systems. So, in Reiki there is much saving of time and one is free to devote the time to actual healing and channeling energy into person’s energy field. Anyway, there are amazing benefits of both Reiki and chi kung in their own ways. There is personal empowerment and ability to heal.
