Reiki was held in an Indian prison in a class which included the jail inmates, guards and the jail doctors. Those in prison had been booked for a variety of crimes and offenses and some were in for serious crimes like murder. Some of them were facing life terms but were eager and curious for something new as Reiki. It was amazing for them. This kind of environment was not at all expected and came as a surprise to all. The inmates were enthusiastic and eager to learn something which they had no idea of. The experience of Reiki in an Indian prison was a new experience for the prison inmates as well as the officials and staff.

Initially, first level of Reiki was taught to all of them and they had a nice experience with it. They were also able to relate to it as the India is also associated with similar concepts like Reiki in the form of pran. It is a concept which is the traditional Indian concept and very commonly known and popular among the Indians. The first part of teaching included what is Reiki, how it works and the question answer session. There were curious questions who wanted to learn this new thing for own treatment, therapies and for trying it on other inmates in the jail. Some were interested in chakras as there are similar concepts in Hinduism also. They wanted to know the relationship between the chakras and Reiki itself because there is detailed description of the chakras in Hinduism and the best example is the religious book of Bhagvad Gita which has similar concepts as used in Reiki.

Then the hand positions were taught. After being taught, the inmates were asked to apply or use the techniques on themselves and others. This gave them some practice on what they were taught. There were discussions among the people gathered there which included the policemen, the prisoners and other staff. There were curious questions about the relationship between Reiki and the Hindu Holy scriptures. Later all were also taught the technique and way to beam Reiki to others who are close by and to those also who are far off. Some days later a conference was organized on Reiki in which the jail officials, the top police brass, media and others were present.

The value of Reiki was explained and told how they can shape their future using it and lead a happy life. They were told how Reiki can be used to clear their negative energies and generate a good aura in their cells as well as how they can develop new skills and use it create a better life once they are out. The idea was to create some Reiki teachers among the prisoners and setup a training area within the campus.
